Wine description

Rolland Galarreta is a brand created as a result of the experience and prestige of the famous French oenologist Michel Rolland, who contributed his knowledge obtained in wineries around the world and the expertise of Javier Galarreta as an expert in styles and trends. With cutting-edge oenology from selected vineyards between 450 and 700 meters above sea level in the Rioja Alavesa with vines with an average age of 35 years from the town of El Villar.

The first incursion of the illustrious couple is in Ribera del Duero, a red wine, coming from old vineyards with an average age of 35 years, grown at an altitude of 915 meters above sea level which, in this area of Castilla, means brave the weather , pushing the crop to the limit. They have searched in these landscapes for the vineyards with the poorest stony soils, with a high content of active limestone, a natural ingredient to achieve powerful but elegant wines.

It is made with 85% Tempranillo, a grape that adds character to the territory, and 15% Merlot, which softens its structure and gives it a certain elegance. The bunches went through a double selection process, first in the vineyard and then at the selection table. The stems were separated from the grapes without squeezing them, with an exhaustive control during long macerations at low temperatures. The grape juice was created by free drainage made by gravity, in order to obtain an optimal extraction of color and tannins, an essential practice to achieve a base that allows the safe aging of the wine. Pneumatic and vertical presses were used, while malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels less than 4 years old to moderate the intensity of the oak flavor of a new wood. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 10 months.

It is a pleasant, balanced wine, with marked fruity sensations, with a medium-intensity garnet cherry color, with a perfect association between smoky oak nuances and notes of black fruit, which will surprise you.
